Nurturing Resilience, One Day at a Time

Nurturing Resilience, One Day at a Time

Dear Parent/Caring Adult,

At 2nd City Psych, we often remind families that confidence isn’t built in isolation—it grows when children feel supported and see the adults in their lives modeling positive self-talk.

What is positive self talk? Think about it this way: if your child hears you say “I can handle tough days” or “I am patient with myself”, they begin to believe it’s possible for them, too. This is the power of positive self talk, but also of family affirmations.

Here are a few simple ways to practice at home:

  • Start your mornings with a shared affirmation at the breakfast table.

  • Use affirmation magnets or water bottles as gentle reminders throughout the day.

  • End the evening by letting your child choose a card from our Affirmation Deck and read it together.

These little rituals create a safe, encouraging space where kids know they’re not alone in building confidence.

Our affirmation tools are designed for both kids and families—so you can lead by example, and grow together.

Warmly,

Dr. Reon Baird-Feldman
