You’ve Got This, Superstar

You’ve Got This, Superstar

Hey there!

It’s Dr. Reon Baird-Feldman here — and I want to send you a little note today.

Yes, YOU!

As we step into summer - with changing schedules, full days, and kids at home, it's easy to slip into survival mode.

 YOU deserve more than that!

At 2nd City Psych, we champion positive affirmations for kids, but today, I want to affirm YOU! This season isn't just about managing playdates, camps, or screen time - it's about giving yourself the space to breathe, reset, and even grow.

Here are 5 small ways to care for yourself this summer (and model that care for your kids):

👉 Affirm yourself daily.
Try this: "I am doing enough. I am enough."
Say it when you wake up, when you're feeling overwhelmed, or even when you feel the need to craft some solo time.

🎨 Create a mini Morning Ritual.
Before the chaos begins, take a few minutes just for you - a mini stretch, coffee on the deck, or just a few deep breaths.

🕵️♂️ Plan something just for you each week.
Whether it's a walk alone, a solo Target run (yup, that counts), or reading a few pages of a book, put yourself on the calendar like you would any other commitment.

🧘♀️ Validate your feelings.
It's ok for you to feel like you're missing your own routine(s). Feeling overstimulated? That's real! You can love your kids deeply and still crave quiet time alone. Remind yourself that "It's okay to need space."

🧘♀️ Find joy in the messy moments.
Summer isn't perfect - it's sticky fingers, sandy floors and spontaneous dance parties. Release any pressure to make it magical and notice when joy sneaks in.

Final affirmation to carry with you:
"I am doing the best I can, and that is enough!"

Wishing you a summer of grace, patience and moments that fill your cup, too.

With lots of encouragement,
